Empathy and ethical responsibility in the design thinking
Placing himself in another’s position is the first phase of human-centred design thinking. Contemporarily, the observation of users’ needs and contextual changes is considered a partial approach because our empathy is focused only on human species, excluding the other ones and their ruined threads. This relationship must be repaired through a new allocentric design approach and ethical responsibility towards them, in which designers collaborate with professionals of different disciplines or with protagonists of the universe to co-create new scenarios, precisely during complicated situations, like the COVID-19 emergency.
