Boosting borders of awareness: ways of incorporation of Russian local cultures in the global design market
In recent years, attention to cultural identities has been steadily increasing, due to the amplified interest in the problems of “collective memory” and cultural communication. The “tradition”, in terms of frequency of use, begins to compete with the progress.
The development of modern production technologies allows combining materials, techniques, imitating the motives of traditional crafts. However, such art objects become truly exclusive thanks to the author’s performance: they are based on hand-made and are original unique work.
Nowadays, it is important to find the possibilities of communication of Russian traditions through design for cross-cultural consumption, while maintaining the fundamental traditions of working of local cultures in the era of industrialization.
